Check out the Spring Metro Parks Recreation Guide. Janet's Derby Quilt is on the cover! Also the windows at the Southwest Library are full of quilts.
Pam, Ossie, Kay and Janet took advantage of the extended hours to work on various projects. On some Saturdays we will be in the small room across from the restrooms. Some weeks we will have the option of moving to the back room when the children's dance classes are finished.
Quilters' Day Out is coming up on Sat March 12th. It will be at the same place as last year, The Ramada Plaza Hotel and Conference Center. You can see the latest information at http://quiltersdayout.blogspot.com/.

Sunday, January 30, 2011
The warmer weather got a few people out on Saturday. Kay, Ossie, Pam and Janet were at the center. Kay brought this cute doll with clothes she had made. She cut out more clothes to make for it. Pam worked on her Grandmothers Flower Garden quilt that she is hand sewing. Ossie worked on an applique quilt she had started a while ago. Janet cut out fabric for a quilt her Fairdale group is making on Monday nights. She also laid out her Hawaiian quilt.
The center is a really busy. The dance class that took over our room has now split into 2 classes. There are rentals for most Saturdays in Feb. Next week, Feb 5th we will meet from 12:30pm - 7:00pm in the back room. There is a rental in the front and that is how we come into the building.

Quilt Photos Taken
There was a last minute change to the photo shoot. The photographer showed up today so I there to went home to get a few quilts. The picture is expected to be on the cover of the next bulletin. I expect a short blurb with the date and time we meet so we may get some quilters to join us.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I wish everyone has a joyous and safe holiday season. Did you finish all your holiday gifts? I finished a quilt that is a gift.
Our next meeting is Jan 8th 11am - 2pm. We now enter the building from the front as the 1st room in the back is now where the tax preparers are located.
Dana said that on Jan 15th there will be a Metro Parks photogragher at our meeting. He will be taking pictures for the monthly bulletin. Bring in your quilts and it may be on the cover.

Starting Time Change
Our starting time has changed to 11 am. This is because the dance class has gotten so large that they are using the room we use. It will soon be tax season and in the past the center has been open until 4 pm. I will know next week what our schedule for January is.

Snowman Table Runner
Supplies needed to make the table runner are:
about 5/8 yd of white or off white for Snowman bodies
6 5" squares any color for scarves
scraps of orange for noses (can use carrot buttons)
black embroidery floss or pigma pen for eyes and mouth
about 15" x 40" piece of batting
embroidery floss for hand quilting
steam-a-seam or other fusible
This will be a fun project that you can use all winter. It's always more fun to make the same thing as others. If you bring extra fabric we can swap fabrics.
